this is our discussion, Mark. adore this. believable passion in body and spirit. wish we could see more of that facial expression, with head tilted towards lens. i need to think about the lighting sculpting her body at the expense of flesh. interesting this ;-} it gets smiles, dp

Donna's comment is quite interesting. I pretty much agree with her observations but turning her head to the camera would ruin the pose. I like it.

I think it is what it is, and it's a great representation of Mark's vision when he took it!  Great pose and capture, amd wonderful plays of light and shadow.  Kudos Mark!

We all get a first impression and mine was the one with nature thing .. I think it comes across very well here.  You bent your knees or squatted here Mark, which many of us so often forget to do.  It's flattering to the body but it's true that it is sometimes at sacrifice to what occurs  further up. I like the black and white here, it helps to convey the fusion thing. Nice one Mark, bravo ... a last word, Isadora Duncan the famous dancer did a couple of these in the forest .. it reminded me of that immediately ..

Donna - One of the reasons I have photographed Katy_T twice, and probably again in the spring, is that passion she brings to her art. She is a dancer and takes good care of her body. Had she been looking at me it would have been a very different photograph. As we have discussed privately, there are plenty of images of flesh, my favorites are the ones that have something more.

David - See my response to Donna above:-)

Michael - This was made just before 11:00 a.m. on an early November day so the light sculpted her body in a very nice way. It also helped keep her comfortable as it was between 45 and 50 F.

John - I'll pass the comparison to Isadora Duncan along to Katy_T, she'll be pleased. I do like shooting up at models for all the reasons you stated. I once did a photograph of one who is 5' 5" and got a comment on how nice it was to work with someone so tall. The image was made on B&W film and scanned from the negative.  She is a naturist and is comfortable outdoors like this. This location was very near the parking lot and is a road used by maintenance vehicles. We set this idea up, I got ready, she took off her robe, three frames later she was getting dressed again before we ran into any more people:-)

Mark, my friend, you know me better than to believe that i meant flesh in the porno sense. i just needed some time to ponder the lighting. now i must correct myself and admit that her conscious self exposure to the sun is essential to her dance and her ecstacy in nature; i believe your high lighting satisfies that essential need of the composition's theme. nor did i mean cast her face directly at the lens; just a tilt more to see her, well, the ecstasy her dance expresses. i'm still believing almightily in your innovations! ;-} dp

Donna - As you know there are many images on photo.net and elswhere that are lovely, non-pornographic, views of the human body. Many are not much more then that with no feeling or story behind them. We are all guilty of that at times but I try to make photographs that have something more. I don't always succeed but am pleased that you find some in my work that did. There was a feeling of sun worship in many photos from this session. That might have been, in part, due to the heat the sun provided. Thank you again!
