Very dramatic.  I love the huge waves and the way the light sets a nice vignette with the lighthouse and the waves centered nicely.

Is this from the recent storm that passed through your area?  I lived for a while in Galicia and I remember these seas.  Beautiful and powerful.

As a sailor, I look at this and say "Holy crap!!" at first glance - then I realize, "no way" and admire your creativity. The main comment I would make is that the light house is too centered in the photo - it makes the image a bit static despite the waves.. If it were mine, I would make a major crop to the comparatively "boring" wave active on the right so the the dynamic feeling on the left would be dominant and the wave would seem to be rolling into the photo from the left.  The interest in the photo is from center to left side - the right side is just kind of "there" and doesn't really add to the photo.

Thanks to you all for your thoughts.

John, it's true, I took this picture a couple of days ago. There was a great storm in the  North coast of Spain. Galicia too.

Lev, the lens I used was Canon 100-400mm at 330mm. You can take a look at technical details for more information.

Sandra, thanks for your clever comment. It would be better to crop at left, but I leave the original frame.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I think the last pictures I took doesn't deserve so many low ratings. The only thing I can think it's: they bark so we ride.

I'm aware there has been a  lot of thoughts about this matter, but the problem still go on. Photo.net managers could take care with some unfair and continued undeserved ratings. Everybody knows to distinguish between a good or a bad picture. Everyone has different taste, but good and bad are opposite and easy to see. There are many awesome images from great photographers treated unfairly. Photonet is a great web with a huge problem. It's disappointing to see that it happens once, twice.... a lot of times. I think Photo.net doesn't deserve it, and managers could be more carefull with this unfair game.

Marina, I agree with you! I suggest you to post this thoughts to Photo.net administrators: I think they are aware of this problem but only if the community will keep on asking at least, maybe, they obtain.

Great shot and great artist: my sincere congratulations.

Alberto.

What a great collection of lighthouse cantabria you have Marina! Very dynamic pictures, the lighthouse looms shyly between weltered waves, just great! Congratulations!!!

WOW!! I am impressed and the center composition doesn't really concern me...it is an amazing photo! Must have been something to be standing there watching this raw power unleash itself! I love storms and huge uncontrolled water, this is well done and impressive.

Warm regards, Pamela

Don't let the rater haters get you down...it is but a silly game and YOU know the worth of your own talent!!

WOW!!! now that's a tremendous wave!!!! exellent image... if it were mine i would probably crop the left side just a touch to center the lighthouse..... it's almost centered but not quite so it looks like you were meaning to but were off just a little. that's just me, you may have it exactly like you want it in which case ignore everything i just said.... ;)

Wow these are powerful images, the force of nature is something to behold! Great series of course.  I don`t think I`d crop anything either. If anything, the static right side, reinforces the violent waves on the left.?   Just a humble opinion, Catherine Hall
