wonderful contrast, Madeleine, in a difficult vast snow scene. for me, in the dog's gait you've captured this shepherd's canine passion for the snow. and: the shadows are just enough; the positioning of the figures frame right gives us, as in your "unknown waters", a sense of the hugeness of the natural place your subjects are facing (not to say that nature isn't your subject ;-}luvin the bw from you. ;-} dp

I like the two focal point in the picture, the dog and the man.  My eyes go flips back and forward.  

Also the positioning is very good.
