Prince Philip

LenMarriott

Exact date uncertain. Occasion: St. Lawrence Seaway opening. Minolta Autocord, Open shade. Candid grab shot as the royal couple drove by. It was a nice dry, warm day so they rode in the open. Distance was only about 10 or 12 ft. Not likely to be that lucky today.

Pity that Her Majesty was only partially available for the shot. Interesting contrast in demeanor between the personnel in the front seat and the Royals in the back.

Ahh, but here's a real thought provoker, had it not been for that other picture, would you have noticed that it was her, or would you have assumed it was just a picture of Prince Phillip? Here again, I like the tight crop and the contrast. I also like the contrast between Phillip and the driver. Can't make up my mind about that window though, on the one hand it could be viewed as a distraction, on the other hand it could emphasize the "barrier" between the two parties.

A shot from my '20th Century' folder. While I never expect to be

presented with another opportunity like this with these people (hard

to get within 20ft, unobstructed, of any celebrity today) I wish I

had waited the split second it would have taken to have both their

faces showing. One tends to get 'Buck Fever' in a situation like

this and, though I was panning, the limo was cruising at about 25

mph. No motor drive on the Minolta Autocord:) Motor drive required

for sure. Your solution for similar situations? Best, LM.
