James G. Dainis 300 Posted November 5, 2010 I'm sure this works better in black and white than in color. Beautiful tones. The sun really seems ot glow. Great photo. Link to comment
carsten_ranke 0 Posted November 6, 2010 I dont know the color version but it is probably the best choice in B&W. Underlines the formal aesthetic power of this shot, love the strong lead in line and dramatic backlight, high suspense. Very very good. Link to comment
momagnum 5 Posted November 6, 2010 Beautiful, dramatic well composed. The bw underlines the autenticity and the drame. Great work.Tommy Link to comment

vbirke 0 Posted November 7, 2010 This is an outstanding composition, a very remarkable example of its genre (Alpine and mountaineering photography) IMO. The proportions of the mountaineer and / versus the high mountains / peaks as well as all contrasts of shapes and textures are outstanding as well as the entire moment: the special sunlight breaking into this scenery which is enwrapped into high clouds but revealing the highest peaks and vertical walls so beautifully (they virtually seem to emerge from the clouds) calls for a b&w editing IMO, and you did it extremely well. The human silhouette demonstrates the vastness of nature and how fragile / tiny we are. But "man must explore" (as well), as Apollo 15 astronaut Dave Scott stated while walking on the moon... Jim_Dockery_Photos 2 Posted November 19, 2010 Thanks for the kind words everyone. This is one of my favorite pictures from my time climbing in Europe. We had just climbed the north face of The Triolet, but missed the summit because of the storm you see clearing as we descend. My partner Jon and I had a great time inspite of that and this picture brings back good memories. Link to comment
