Despite the cheery colors, there's a touch of somberness here, perhaps accentuated by the downward pull of the leaves and the barrenness of the twigs.  Like a pretty song in a minor key.

Maybe I'm just in a cropping mode or something, because I know I just suggested you crop another image.   But I think this could also benefit from a cropping, particularly on the left and a touch from the bottom.   You have that amazing light on the trio of leaves, and I think it would enhance that.   This image is like one of the last vestiges of fall....with a few die-hard leaves hanging on.  I really love it!

I agree with Rajat, slight cropping, but not a big deal. Otherwise a very lovely image Linda. The colors stand out against the BG very nicely. Take care.

I like this mostly because of the vibrancy of the red.  Funny, one of my favorite movies is titled "Red"  -- from the film triology "Trois Couleurs."  There, too, the red was shockingly strong amidst various backgrounds -- a bit of sadness, as Jeff mentions.  Passion, I suppose, but life and power.  Nice contrast with the waning autumn bareness and cold water. I also like this because it simulates what I see through my right eye without contacts.  The pond it lovely.  Only nit -- a slight absence of breathing room... feels a bit claustrophobic being faced immediately with the stems.  But everything else ... so very lovely and, as usual, showing what is so very great about nature.  You help us see in perspective that we should not take what is around us for granted.

Jeff, there is a sadness here, the last bit of colour clinging the branch. Soon all the colour will be gone, and we will have months of dull, bleak grey.

Niki,thank you!

Anonymous person, thank you too!

Christal, yes, "the last vestiges of fall". That's what I saw here. Thanks for the advice, I will try it. I seem to be having trouble with cropping lately.

I don't think it's you.

Gallego, thanks for commenting.

Rajat, thank you. You are the second person to say it needs to be cropped, so you must have a valid point. Thanks for pointing that out, I am going to try it.

Holgel, definitly this needs to be cropped! I really appreciate your advice. Thanks so much.

Bobby, it's good to hear from you! Thanks for the kind words. karimipoor , November 09, 2010; 09:01 A.M.

I haven't heard of that movie, it sounds interesting.

I find my eyes are always looking for the last bits of colour in my surroundings at this time of year. I want it to stay just a little longer.

In advertising if you want to draw attention, use red. It is the colour that the eye is most attracted to. According to the Psychology of Colour it has energy and excitement. It is also the colour of "passion and life and power" as you say.

It is always good to hear your thoughts. I appreciate you taking the time to comment.

Best wishes,

Linda

I think of the politicians wearing red -- their power suits.

Well worth seeing the movie if you can get your hands on it. Director -- Kieslowski

This image reminds me of how I feel at the end of the Fall Season...my eyes feel lonley as they view the barren landscape.....until I see the faintest bit of color that remnds me that yes, it truly was that beautiful.  Yet the bare branches do reveal so much that we cannot see during the summer and fall months...old barns and interesting estates going to ruin that otherwise we'd not view.  However,  not being the biggest lover of the cold, I'll settle for whatever leaves still lay on the branches and vines.

We are fortunate that we can enjoy such an array of color, where so many countries are flat and barren, dry and barren.  Thankyou for this last reminder of our countries glorious reds.  What would we do without it's pigment in our palette???  Sincerely, Gail
