A snowy day in November in the Forbidden City. I'm a bit afraid that I

might think it too dark and contrasty. What do you guys think?

The image contains a full range of tones as well as blocked up shadows and burnt out highlights (at least according to the histogram in CS5. The histogram is also skewed to the left - adjusting the gamma to about 1.2 seems to give better balance. 

If you have camera raw or better Nikon Capture NX2, I'd punch in some highlight recovery and shadow fill to extract more of that interesting detail.

My adjustment  has a simple highlight / shadow adjustment in CS5 but the histogram is still showing blocked shadows and burnt out highlights. Tone distribution is much better though.
