Perhaps the Lighting Technique was on purpose or for impact: but generally this type of lighting is out of place for a Wedding Coverage.

Flash Fill Techniques on Location and the uses of a Flash Bracket for On Camera Flash work, would be the first areas to research, if you wish to pursue other lighting options -  as mentioned -  if these are not known to you already.

William, I think that you are reffering to very harsh shadow on the picture. I think that it gives a bit more dramatic feel, but perhaps it is too much.

Yes, I was referring to the hard shadow.

Yes, I understood the possible intention of “dramatic feel” and that’s why I worded my comments the way I did.

If dramatic effect is the reason for the shadow then, IMO, it would be better if the angle of the shadow was downward and not upward.

If the shadow is there for drama, then the intensity of the shadow is fine but the angle of it, upward behind the Bride, interferes with the Subject too much and is counter to what the sun does – the upward angle shadow is disruptive IMO.

Obviously, to achieve that, it would require more complex lighting when shooting from that position, I understand.

I am not a fan of the shadow either, but to each their own I suppose. I also think the brides right are could be brought down a bit more like the left are so that we are not seeing the bride's armpit. Have all the weight on one leg a kick the hip out just a bit for a bit of S-curve.

William,

Thanks a lot for your comments. You have a good point.

 John,

I see you point with the arm pit, but she wanted this pose. The other suggestion will probably not work too well with her dress.

Without going into too much detail, there are and have been many interpretations of what displays: beauty; sensuality and power by the female Subject.

The interpretations and the use of different poses and the allocation of emphasis upon different physical areas of the Subject will be interpreted differently across the world and across cultures.

If the Woman required this particular pose for a reason; then I believe I have some understanding of this; and therefore it perhaps is even more important to control the shadow such that it does not compete with her, but rather she remains dominate.

With this extra information you have provided, I find this image more interesting.

Thanks you for sharing it. My compliments on the work.
