hkahin 0 Posted October 12, 2010 Wonderful. You gave a different view of Yerebatan Sarnıcı. Usually It is captured as columns on the same row. congrats. Link to comment

GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted October 16, 2010 Sadegh, there is a weekly program on our History Channel (I think) called 'Cities of the Underworld'...totally fascinating. They did one on Instanbul which just blew me away. I'd never realized this place ever existed, plus many other surprise places underground in Instanbul. Your photograph, especially in what I see as shades of Charcoal and Black (aesthetically)...is just beautiful and really does do this amazing underground place due justice. The program showed in one area, a family who owned quite a large carpet store, and they'd invested their own money in reinforcing their floor space as to not put too much weight on the columns. Kudos....on a fine composition. Amazing what lies below in so many cities. The Romans seemed to turn up and occupy so many places in the continent To think they just kept building on top of buildings is mind boggling, especially when you consider the weight that must bear down on these columns. Although they have been very careful to preserve and avoid deterioration, this shot itself truly is a testament to their architectural skills throughout History. Thankyou for sharing this lovely photo, reminding me of a program that I search for nearly weekly, as I'd love to watch it again. Link to comment
