Guest Guest Posted October 12, 2010 Alain,She is a beautiful girl. I like her expression. You have focused well on her eyes. Her eye contact is intense, yet alluring. The lighting is very nice. The shadows on her face have created a very good illusion of depth within your photograph. They really add interest to her lovely facial features. The background is nicely out of focus and she is well separated from it. Her make-up looks very good.Even without really dominant catchlights, which would have been better, her eyes come alive in this photograph. I'm sure some of it is do to her eye make-up -- very good. I do wish the specular highlights on her lips were more apparent -- brighter. Her skin tone is very good, but you are getting a blue/green bleed on her skin and in the whites of her eyes.I like the relaxed pose, but be careful of her stomach. It is really sticking out. She almost looks pregnant. I apologize if she really is pregnant. It wouldn't be the first time I have inserted my foot in my mouth. Leaning back with her tummy out is not a very feminine look. She looks off balance and unnatural. You want to crop quite a bit on the bottom. You don't want a chunk of cropped right hand showing. The left arm is pretty much cropped at her wrist -- a joint. Don't crop at a joint. She will look like an amputee. You could easily crop between her elbow and wrist or even between her elbow and shoulder. If we were just talking shapes, this composition would look quite balanced. For a portrait it is quite right heavy. You want to compositionally balance the left and right sides of the photograph. The compositional "rule" for this suggests that you position the tip of the subject's nose in the vertical center of the photograph. This little rule almost always works well. It is a good starting from which to make small adjustments until it looks perfectly balanced.Nice shot,Mark Link to comment

jesse_starks 0 Posted October 16, 2010 This is a great shot and I love Jessie's eyes. It looks a bit "cold" due to the blue/green cast. I also agree with Mark's comments about the stomach and cropping. Tore's comment is also noteworthy. All the best,Jesse Link to comment
