High Line Gardens

The old elevated railway on Manhattan's west side in the 20's has been

transformed into peaceful walkway garden. About 25 feet above street

level, the gardens are a sanctuary from the noisy, busy streets below.

The gardens feature hard, drought tolerant plants. Many were chosen

because they established themselves naturally on the elevated rails

during decades of neglect.
