jerrymat 3 Posted October 8, 2010 Good start, Janine. You might find that quietly attending weddings where you know nobody gives you a chance to watch how different photographers work. When you find one you really like ask him for his business card and then phone him up to offer to assist for no wages. If things work out he will let you do some second photographer roles and then maybe take an assignment for him. Do this with several photographers and you will see different styles and begin to compare it with your own. Try both female and male photographers. Read every book on wedding photography you can find and offer to photograph your girlfriend's wedding for your wedding present to her. When you feel confident advertise and aim for the lessor paying market. They complain less if your quality is not up to top notch. Whenever you get more weddings than you want to do, raise your future prices 10%. If, after three years you are still enthusiastic, you have a career.Jerry Link to comment
janine_burger 0 Posted October 9, 2010 Thanks for the advise, just looked at a friends wedding photos.. and feel really sorry to think that that is all that she will have as memory..Very poor exposure and bad lighting. I know I could have given her better photos. I will definitely aim for the lower price market, as I know there are a lot of people that can not afford a top of the range photographer. I believe photos is important and for every occasion you need good memories through photos.I don't think my passion for photography will die soon. Loved it since I was a child. Thanks for the advise, I really do appreciate it. Link to comment
