kallol 0 Posted October 9, 2010 Nice shot, Bela...wonderful composition with the diagonal line and two world on two sides...one is seeking help and the other with a symbol of affluence (McDonald)...nice interpretation through selective coloring...my best Link to comment
dara 0 Posted October 10, 2010 Why the ballon in Color? You could also make your message in Black and White....this is a street photograph no manupilatations please...In the west supposedly Mac donalds etc make people poor becouse of U.S. global hegemony....Why? You do not show this....Yet good image.... Link to comment
bela_dick 1 Posted October 10, 2010 To Anonymous.I thank you for your view and it gives me important input to my work.To your question why I choose color on the balloon:The colors are used as commercial by companies - we are confronted with it most of our lives day by day in all media and on the street - here with a balloon. The true everyday life is a bit more grayscale. We do have poverty, we have abundance and that is what I try to express with the divide.Kind regardsBela Dick Link to comment
trisha jean-angela 3 Posted October 27, 2010 Wonderful capture and your choice to use color on the balloon was an excellent one! Great job on this one! Thank you for sharing. :) Link to comment
samrat 1 Posted December 11, 2010 One of my favourite street photos for the contrast that you have displayed a). directly by displaying the corporate symbol and the lady begging and b). by use of the line that forms a division between the subjects. Also, there is a distinct tension in the photo through the invisible line that joins the cup and the balloon.I'm not so concerned by the use of yellow here; I think that stresses the point a bit but the message would not have been lost even if you did not choose to do it this way. (I wouldn't have used colour, I think.) Link to comment
