Raymond,

I don't think I would call her sardonic.

She is a very pretty girl. I really like the skin tone, focus, catch lights, make-up, expression, eye contact, background, color saturation, composition, contrast and her tats. The background bleeding out onto the mat is quite fun. Not usually my cup of tea, but still quite fun -- I think I could get to like this if used in moderation. I will have to do some experimenting.

I think this would have worked much better turned so that her head was at the top. I don't like the double shadows on the background -- from the main light and from the fill? It would be better with just the shadow below (or as you have it, above) her. I believe the idea of fill lighting is to fill in the shadows, not create new ones.

Her outfit would look better and more cohesive if her bra had some lace on it. Her stockings and shoes look feminine and even playful, but her bra looks more utilitarian -- even a bit like dominatrix apparel.

If you want her to look more feminine you could have her place her hands, especially her left hand, at an angle (showing its side) to the camera. This will make her hands appear thinner, more graceful, elegant and feminine.

Her pose is really quite interesting and sensual.

Nice shot,

Mark

Finally you grace my pages with your considered critique. Based on what I've seen of your work, an amazing portfolio to be sure which is beyond reproach, I'll certainly take all that you say in profound consideration. She may not appear sardonic, but I most certainly am. By the bye... I wanted her to look exactly as she is presented... and so she is.
Go well,
Raymond

I like the risk you took presenting the pose this way. It works for me and makes for a terrific composition. The retro pin-up look with the tattoos is a very nice combination. I also like the way all the angles work together. You have done well here, Raymond!

A most unusual pose but compositionaly it works out very well, I love the photo and the model! very original and daring Raymond, personally I much prefer satin over lace any day, the bra works fine for me!
