once in a while... I just look into the eyes of my subject and know...

she's somewhere else... this is what I refer to as a beautiful sadness...

What a beautiful young girl. Excellent focus, lighting, skin tone, expression and catchlights. Finally I find a portrait where it is appropriate to use a horizontal format for a traditional head and shoulders shot. Not only is there something next to her that adds to the meaning of the photograph, but it balances her off center placement. Well done.

I find it quite appropriate to shoot a young girl straight on to the camera.

Your name could be properly placed on the mat. Hand signing a photograph is quite appropriate to distinguish it as a work of art if the purchaser wishes it done or even if it is on display and for sale in a gallery. Even in a gallery I would ask the purchaser if  he or she wanted it signed before I actually hand signed it. 

This is a wonderful portrait. This is the type of portrait I love to see in galleries.

I love this image! She daydreams of hope and all that it holds for her just like the red balloons hope to reach the heavens when their strings are released. Very powerful image Fred - it speaks to me!
