Gentleman in Black, His Lady in White

rick vincent

A second look. I originally posted a tighter crop version of this in color (although there was very litte color to capture). The crop version is located in my people/portraits folder. This version is near full frame. Slight crop off the left, just because I like the height/width ratio better. Captured at an outdoor wedding reception with late afternoon sunlight at my back, and theirs. After a second look, I've come to like the full frame shot more than my original crop. It is less abstract this way. Your turn...

A portrait of a different sort. No faces, no eyes. Just a woman in

white and a man in black from the point of view of the guests who

witness the union of husband and wife.

A very different perspective, as others have noted. This photo says a lot given it's simplicity, and I find that very appealing. It could be my monitor, of course, but I see no hint of the 'Gentleman in Black'. Or perhaps I'm being too literal with your title and looking for more than is intended.

As I am new here and not yet famaliar with the rating system, I will not put a rating on this photo. I have commented in an effort to do my part as a participant.

Without any comment or critique of course. Fairly typical happening here on Photo.net. Bla, bla, bla....Ouch, please don't hurt my feelings. That is okay, your rating lifts me one notch higher on the "number of ratings" top photos board. Thank you and pardon the sarcasm.

This one depends too much on its caption. We need an arm in a black sleeve around that waist.

This is just the way I like it! It is not obvious - makes you look and think. But at the same time it is not unclear at all. It really catches the eye! Good work!

I would classify this as an abstract close-up. The gentleman is in the black. The black being the solid back panel of his tux jacket. In this case, the gentleman, is not so obvious. Such is the world of abstract.

I would have liked to see more shape .... I should say it is a nice shot ... I did one like it ... give it a look . I too like these lind of shots where it is about the subject not the face ...

It took me a while to realize what this was. Maybe a little more of the subject would have helped that jump out at me. As it was, my initial reaction time was spent wonder what I was seeing. Just my two cents.

What can I say...you are a star!

I am very interested to know how much of your b& w stuff is formally set-up (including lighting) and how much is "in flagrante delicto"?

Most of my black and white is under natural light conditions. This shot was taken at an outdoor wedding. I just happened to be standing behind the bride and groom while they stood in their receiving line.
