chkfoto 0 Posted December 13, 2002 The sad thing is, viewing your image on a computer does not do it justice. I sure it is subtley strong in person. Try to accomplish what you've done here without Photoshop-just lighting and gels. Link to comment
bradkim 8 Posted December 14, 2002 This image is great, Piotr !!! Simple composition, but strong and effective. The image is a little bit too dark on my computer screen...... but it doesn't matter. Excellent work !!! Link to comment
ah_shui 0 Posted December 15, 2002 i like this one better than the other 2, and i guess if u do not show the line of the semi-circle is much better. Link to comment
dougityb 0 Posted December 15, 2002 wow! Piotr, this is excellent. What is "sarrow?" Should that be sorrow-feeling regret ? Link to comment
jim_stogdill 0 Posted December 19, 2002 I like the mood and composition; however, I think it would be better without the strong edge between shadow and light. The image seems like it is of a man who thinks he is alone with his thoughts and sorrows. That strong line makes it appear "lit" and, for me, makes the composition seem somewhat false. A more diffuse shadow/light transition would make it seem more like light naturally falling from a high window. Just my $.02 Link to comment
rick vincent 1 Posted December 19, 2002 Moody dark image. Looks a bit too dark on screen, but possibly a different story in print. Images like this also tend to darken up when posted to Photo.net. I see very noticable differences in my photos when viewing in photoshop versus the net. Link to comment
afs760bf 0 Posted December 19, 2002 I like the image, and I'm sure it's better in real life than on a monitor. Nice job. I also like the other one in your folder - here http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=1174289. Have you got an idea for Seeing God - Sins Forgiven? Link to comment
michael_banker 0 Posted December 20, 2002 He is ashamed, blocking the light with his hand. Great image showing remorse and repentance. Putting it in the bottom corner makes him small compared to God, probably just how he feels. The light reaches out from above showing God's intiative towards this man. God is the action here and reflectance is the response. The emotion is captured very well. Link to comment
rachel k. 0 Posted December 20, 2002 Are you familiar with Rembrandt's "Philosopher in Meditation"? The aura of your photo made me think of it immediately. And can't we all relate to this guy?! Link to comment
root 0 Posted December 21, 2002 I like the pose and mood. . . . . favorite in the series. The light works, but maybe is a bit too well defined given it's location. I would like to see a bit more detail in his face . . and I don't need the ring. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted December 23, 2002 Hey this is a picture of you and me!!! I just had one of these episodes in which I cry in anguish to God for forgiveness OR for help, but as usual I got another silent answer. Its funny, but to me this photo is NOT about feeling remorse, but instead about NOT SEEING God; its about the torment of not knowing the truth (if he exists or not). This photo to me is about all the moments of silent questions that never get an answer, and about the pain and confusion of living our lives when we cant understand the purpose of our very existence. Ive asked God why so much evil exists in the presence of a perfect being and I get silence for an answer all the time. Ive asked him if he can really hear my cry and if He cares about my tormented and agonizing state of mind of the all too many days and episodes in my life, but I get no response. Maybe when I die Ill know if He did hear me and if he cared for me in all those lonely times of confusion, and maybe then Ill know the truth instead of facing yet another silent question. NOOOOOOOOOOOO! Im not indirectly crying in desperation for help, Im only stating what I see in this picture and bringing it to a level that we have all experienced at some point in our liveswhether we believe in God or not. Surely the Atheist has these moments also, and for him they may be even more confusing for he also needs to know if God really exists as much as those of us who believe He does. Sometimes merely believing that He exists (or that He doesn't) is not enough! Link to comment
david_silver 0 Posted December 26, 2002 This looks like a fantasic picture being hidden in the shadows. Great idea, but it should be a little lighter. Link to comment
linus_hultstrand 0 Posted December 26, 2002 Wow. This is a photo with a lot of expression. First I thought of the light as a sound. It actually looks like a sound (however that is possible). A painful sound if you look at the man. I realize on the title it was meant otherwise, but I guess that way is painful too. Link to comment
glenn_polin 0 Posted December 28, 2002 Would be more compelling for me if more face was visible; also the moire pattern on the wall...is it intentional? real? an artifact of my monitor? Link to comment
pargman 0 Posted December 30, 2002 Great work with the mood here. The composition is perfect. The color of the lighting also is just right. Link to comment
juddirishbradley 0 Posted January 5, 2003 I usually rate photos in the fine art cat. I keep in mind whether I would hang a piece in my home. this one fits the bill. good work. Link to comment
emi_grande 0 Posted January 13, 2003 these shots are great. you've done a great job at putting emotion on film - a very difficult task. Link to comment
markus_malmqvist1 0 Posted February 24, 2003 The frightening light of God is strongly present. The face is in shadow, but is undoubtedly filled with anguish. Apparently there is also the voice of God. Link to comment
intransit 0 Posted April 20, 2003 I happened upon this submission, being Easter Sunday, the Title first cought my eye, and then your capture and presentation is superb! Thank you Link to comment
