Hawaii Island at Night

This photo was taken from the top of Haleakala on Maui. Looking over

the clouds above the Alenuihaha Channel are the peaks of Mauna Loa

and Mauna Kea. The light high in the photo, between the two peaks, is

Waimea. The lower lights are Hawi, Kawaihai, and Kona.

This is amazing! How did you capture the night-sky simultaneously with the day-lit clouds? Could you explain the technique?

The clouds are lighted by the moon.   If you look at another of my photos, "Haleakala Full Moon", you will see the moon rising in the distance.  The clouds have a similar coloration.   Maybe it's because I'm shooting at 10,000+ feet of elevation and somewhat close to the equator.
