I had just borrowed a crappy 300 mm manual lens and tried it on My

Nikon D70 when this bird showed up. I had never seen it in Denmark

before, so it was quite a scoop for me. I shot a few pictures blindly

and when i got home, to my surprise i found this.

 

It's actually a great image as far as showing the Stercorarius

parasiticus terrorizing a Sterna hirundo to drop it's catch - you can

still see it in the beak. The exposure was almost perfect, as you can

make out details in both the white and the black bird and to my luck i

got some of the surrounding in the image too. The beach and the summer

residents.

 

Just goes to show luck as a factor - would love to hear some of the

bird photographers opinion on this. Thank you

 

All in all i'm quite pleased with it - given the circumstances.
