alfbailey 1 Posted October 2, 2010 I remember looking at a photo of your daughter, called "attiitude" ( I think it was your daughter) and being knocked out by it. Since then I have realised what a fine talent you have for portraiture and this one is no exception. The expression of amusement is contagious and I find myself smiling back. Great detail and lighting, John has certainly got the glint of amusement in his eyes captured impeccably.Excellent work William.Kind RegardsAlf Link to comment

william_staniforth 0 Posted October 2, 2010 Thankyou Gentlemen for your kind words . I've not been on P.Net for a while ( first upload in 3 months ) I will try to catchup with you all as time permits .JORGE, I think that just having a camera makes us all " observers " . I used to draw and paint and found myself doing " mental sketching " . I think it's the same with photography , you just can't help seeing shots even when you are without a camera !SERGE , I understand your point re the background , but he just didn't look right against a plain backdrop .ALF, Shelly is my Grandaughter , she lives with us and is very much like a daughter . She is spoilt rotten ( it's what Grandads do ) . Almost all the outfits she has on in the photo's , I've probably paid for !PIERRE . I stand reprimanded ! My equipment has't changed for several years . The camera is a Cannon 5d with a 24 - 105 lens . I never change the lens to avoid dust on the Sensor . I shoot against a white background in a very limited space . Main light for men such as this is used with a snoot . Ladies I use a soft box . Fill in is bounced off a brolly , usually to the side and behind the camera position . Over head light is on a boom with a 20 degree fresnal . Link to comment

ifti 0 Posted October 16, 2010 Very interesting and telling expression with a smirk. The light is very nice. Picture is sharp and good skin color. The subject shines on the enhancing BG. Off center composition works well. Regards, ifti. Link to comment
