Guest Guest Posted September 30, 2010 Monika and Wolfgang,This girl is beautiful. You have brought out a lovely innocence with her expression. The focus on her eyes is very good. Having little make-up works for a young girl look. I love her freckles! Her skin tone is very nice.I like the pose, but I wish the background didn't look so much like she was in a studio. Just all black would be better if you didn't have access to a more suitable location. Make your background appropriate for telling your story or setting your mood. This is more than just a portrait of a pretty girl. The background color does go very well with her beautiful top and her hair. You have done a wonderful job with her catchlights, but lighting coming from above would be much better. Grotesque lighting (lighting from below eye level) is usually associated with evil -- bad witches, vampires, Dracula, the devil, mothers-in-law, etc. I don't think you want anything bad associated with this pretty girl. If you would turn her a bit so that her body was at more of an angle to the camera she would appear a little thinner (less space between shoulders), and more feminine, graceful and elegant. I am not saying that this pose doesn't look very nice. The angled pose would just give a different feel to this image. I like yours very much and I am just presenting an option or idea for your consideration. You have cropped quite far into her head. This would suggest a very tight crop on the bottom. You should give her more headroom. I would crop above her head to provide better top and bottom compositional balance. Nice shot,Mark Link to comment
swordshj 0 Posted October 1, 2010 Beautiful. I love how her hands are forced to hold the heart, and yet she looks somewhere between hopeful and innocent. Lighting is brilliant. Link to comment

starvy 7 Posted June 25, 2013 A beautifully composed image that feels full of symbolism. I feel as if the age of the adolescent girl, perhaps hitting her teens clutching what is to come? Link to comment
