This is a beauty. I love the BG similarity to the FG," imitation"/duplication of nature. The light is magic as well as the color palette, and your technic that I find original and innovative. ( you have a strong touch for nature and  flowers). Just continue!

Thanks!

Absolutely incredible.  The composition is what stands out for me, though.  Love the decision to include that background flower behind the DOF to mirror the first.  That makes the picture.  Kudos!

Gordon, nice to see work with your name beneath. has been a while, i seldom leave the flower section, the last image i remember seeing of yours was a orchid. like the simplicity here, also nice tones. can also see a nice single flower with square format, but think your b/g precludes any ideas in that direction. nice work.

Pnina,

Thanks for the kind words and the ongoing support and assistance. You have followed the evolution of my botanical studies since my first days at PN.

Trisha,

Thanks the toning seemed to fit, I was grateful for the early morning light filtering through a clearing in the forest which really helped this one along.

Michael,

Thanks for the visit. I agree that the oof second blossom in the background helps along the composition, it was my main reason for selecting this frame from the several I took.

Roger,

Nice to hear from you and to see your lovely companions I hope they are all doing well along with yourself and the rest of your family.

You should get out more :-). I've been quietly slogging along here at PN fairly consistently since my arrival.  There are no doubt a few orchid photos in my orchid folder which you have not seen. I seldom post to the critique forum and only did so on this occasion on the advice of management in an attempt to sort out a technical inquiry I had made.  Since it took this occasion for us to connect again, perhaps I should take my own advice and get out more too.

It makes me wonder if this has been created by some sort of Frankenstein photographic experience, spare parts and duct tape.  The end always justifies the means.

Michael,

Getting beyond that "just another flower shot " feel was a part of my motivation to tone the image and shoot it the way I did glad to read that this works for you, thanks for the comment.

Jeff,

No duct tape this time out.  Although the parts are typical gear the arrangement may be a bit of a Frankenstein.  I wanted a very narrow dof and an overall soft image so I used the 70-200mm zoom with a 1.4X extender plus an EF 25 extension tube to allow closer focus. I stuck this arrangement on a tripod and back-lit the flowers through a gap in the trees.
