About every three minutes a Metro train comes rushing into this station

during daytime hours, to pick up passengers by the hundreds, but

these 'passengers' do not look like they're in any mood to be picked up

at all and instead have found a 'parking place' deep underground. Your

ratings, critiques, and remarks are invited and most welcome. If you

rate harshly, very critically, or wish to post a remark, please submit a

helpful and constructive comment; thank you in advance for sharing your

photographic knowledge to help improve my photography. Enjoy! John

When I saw this on my screen in color, then again when I desaturated it on my screen I was very satisfied -- I felt it was 'serious work' with good balance and composition as well as subject.

Any time you see a subject of mine very much underexposed, you have to know it's meant as 'very serious work'.

I'm so glad you agree with my assessment.  Sometimes I'm not 'in love' with what I post - othertimes the opposite, even when members are not.

There's 'serious work' and more 'fluff', some of which also is 'serious' but more 'light' and then 'stuff' that is interesting, some of which scores absurdly highly and is very popular.

But this is of enduring quality, I feel.

Thanks for the endorsement.

P.S., It's also wonderful (my estimation) in color!  Just somewhat different with a slightly more sombre quality due to the tones and colors.  Some day I'll post it here or elsewhere.

Let's put it another way.

As opposed to some shots posted, this is one I'm absolutely proud to put my name to.

Enough said?

Great one here. And yes, it is serious stuff. Dont know why, but it seems without exception these photos always look better in monotones. I am happy you kept that woman in the far end in the frame. The sense of anticipation in the body language of the young (seemingly) woman at the arrival of the train kind of contrasts with the hopelessness of the homeless in the foreground. The arrival of the ghostly train almost creates an eerie environment. Great image once again.

Thanks for the wonderful compliment.  You have a very discerning eye as noted elsewhere today.  The woman, far end, could not have been removed, no matter what, as I shoot, as I don't remove people, but I would not have removed if I could for reasons you note.

Your analysis is 'spot on', and really quite good.  You have shown very good analytic powers with my photos in the last two outings -- please keep at it.

Today this photo has less than 100 clicked views, yet 14 ratings.

I call such photos 'ratings magnets'.

People may be reluctant because of subject to click on certain photos as they are not 'popular', but serious raters, when they do, tend to want to rate them.

Often people do not want to rate work that is not 'serious' and that's the reason I think.

Obviously this is serious work.  I won't analyze it formally, though if I were to do so, it has stylistically some very good formal elements -- all afterthoughts might you, as I shoot inchoately (and quickly).
