Ok, I saw the first in B&W and now this one and understand quite some things.

You softened it intentionally. This is not as strong as the black and white. The post-processing to me is a bit too much.

I'm afraid this didn't quite hit me... I think I get the story, but I feel that I don't get any contact with your subjects. Technically I find it a bit too soft, and on my monitor there is very visible light halo around the two persons  -looks like you have tried to lighten the subjects, but have managed to lighten parts of the background as well.
