This tree brings back some memories. When I was younger, and into

rock climbing, this tree was the only thing you could tie up to for

top-roping the double-overhang below. What was interesting was that

my friend was changing lenses on his D80 from just above where I took

this shot, and one of the lenses he had resting on the rock somehow

tumbled, and started rolling to the cliff's edge. Lucky for him, it

was in it's pouch, and got caught up in a large crack near the cliff

edge, slightly above the line of this tree. That would have been a

$900 mistake! Let me know what you think of the shot.

I would have changed the angle, just slightly, to avoid the top of the tree running into the distant shoreline...perhaps by lowering the angle just a bit and moving to your right. In that way the distant cliff would fill that "open" area in the top right of the tree.....

Hi Bill.  When I posted this photo I had the same thought, but figured I would post it anyway as I did not want to go "out on a limb!"  Maybe if I was roped off.  My friend and I talked about his potential lens disaster, and how running after it would have been a very big mistake.  Safety first in my books!  Thanks so much for the feedback Bill.  Your comments remind me that I am getting better as time goes on...Great minds etc...

: )...Cheers!

Hey Paul

Sorry to hear you gave up on climbing - it just gets better as you age!

Great shot, I just wish you had brought your cherry picking ladder along to look down on things a bit more. But that's just a nitpick.

Regards, Marc

Hi Marc.  I know what you are saying.  Having the tree bisect the horizon was a little unfortunate, but I will be back there one day with cherry picking ladder in hand to correct this!  : )  Thanks for the thoughts!
