Bill,

You had the right idea on this one.  The shot of the front four boys and the ball should be the focus of the shot.  I think your depth of field has allowed to many distractions to enter the shot.  If you had used a larger depth and had the background coaches and kids blurred this should would have been tremendous.

Thanks for the comment, Jeff. I agree the upfront action might have had more impact with a less-defined background, but, truthfully, I'm not terribly bothered by the figures to the rear: they add a bit of context to the shot, it seems to me.  I'll also add that I'm the first to admit I am not a sports shooter; I was fortunate to get what I got. Best...Bill

Nice capture; you caught it at just the right moment. Bill, I agree with you about the DOF; the backgroung figures give context. In fast moving, candid shots like this, I would rather have more in sharp focus than less. If the lad at frame right were out of focus, it would detract from the shot.

Nicely done; a very good candid shot with vibrant color. I am sure the boys' parents will love it.

good pov/perspective... very well chosen moment... perfect exposure... i like the backdrop, particularly noting one of the coaches (arms crossed) observing the boys as we are
