whoz_the_man_huh 0 Posted September 21, 2010 This photograph is glorious in its simplicity and sleekness. The shape of the descending sun and its mirrored image make me think of a burning hourglass, triggering some reflection on how quickly our days pass.Outstanding work, Volker. Link to comment

Dale M 1 Posted October 17, 2010 Very nice. Good to see (for a change) that the sea comes right to the front without a hint of a beach; that eliminates a difficulty with keeping the eye at the horizon, and makes the whole image balanced around said horizon. Very peaceful, tranquil, and at ease with itself. Link to comment
vbirke 0 Posted October 17, 2010 Hi Dale, thanks for stopping by, it is a lake called Lake Steinhude (length around 12 km, width around 5 km), it is pretty shallow, deepest depth around 3 m, usually between 0.5 to 1.5 m only. It appeared after the last ice age and will be gone in few thousands years due to silting up (in a more or less natural process, OK, meanwhile enhanced by human activities such as eutrophication caused by intense agriculture...).
