Hello Bill, OK, I like this but I'm not sure why just yet. There's no central point of focus and the main subject? is blurred. I do like the blue blurry BG lights and the flowing lines of light into the plant. Hmm very interesting. Sorry I couln't be more concice in my comment. But I do like it. Take care.

Sincerely,

Holger

I like the fan-like appearance, the green and the "blue moons". I always have difficulty of figuring out where is the place in the image to have 'in-focus'.  While this is certainly not a strong guideline but I start with examining the closest object and then figuring which object may likely be the point of interest. Sometimes i change that and it all depends on the day.

I would have probably changed my 'point-of-focus' but that is always a personal preference.

All the best,

Great POV Bill. I think sometimes we just happen to be in a spot where we 'see a moment' and 'click that shutter', not always knowing what will reveal itself.  Sure we have LCD screens, but until you upload that shot on the computer, do you really see thewhole picture. Nice work Bill....Going to the city this weekend? Very windy here (Mom in hosp for the last week)....fall with slip by if I don't get out for a drive and see the colors.  Have a good one, Gail

Thank you everyone for taking the time to comment, your insights and opinions are valued for the help it gives me in assessing my own work.

Tony, thank you for your comment on point of focus, What I felt when I saw this image in my head was kind of dreamy and soft with an interesting play of light. The decision to have foreground and background blur was indeed a deliberate choice to try to represent what I felt when looking at this.

Gail, I captured this image, among others that I have posted in this portfolio lately from a walkabout in my back yard to see what I could find. The impulse to do this came from seeing your images that you have produced from your garden, so thank you.  I hope you can find the time to get out for the fall extravaganza, it's early this year. I will probably go into town this weekend, whether to photograph or listen to some jazz will depend on my mood probably.

Bill

I really like the composition and colors in this photo...the contrast between the spiky leaves and the round blue dots is nice too. If you cropped it a little at the bottom and you have a very vivid imagination like me, you could perhaps think you were on another planet with several moons, peering through vegetation at the night sky...but then I could just be really, really tired! lol. Very pleasing to view...Thank you for sharing. :)
