High School Graduation

High School Graduation; a horrible photo. Don't know if it is because of

the scanner or that it was shot in the sunlight, or just me.

i actually really like this photo, exposure seems good and it hold my attention. 

Thank you for commenting. What I most dislike is that the sidewalk "blew out". Now that I look again I think the scanner  the scanner. "No shadows" suggest to me there was no direct sun. Again, thanks for commenting.

Meir, I like this a lot. The problems you mentioned with this, I don't really notice because the focus is as should be, on the couple who are happy and proud and having a lot of fun. 

The "problem" with the exposure is not so bad at all, I tend to like high contrast.  You have a white sidewalk that you probably brought down to grey to put some tone in? but you also have blocked up shadows in the back. However, while some might give you gas about that, it actually helps the couple standout.  I like the look of the pic and the people running into and out of the frame.  Fun pic:)

Thank you for commenting. Barry; It was a high contrast scene; not what I like to shoot. This is a flatbed scan done long ago  of a developed print. Whatever things I did would have been in the darkroom (and I hate the darkroom). They were having a good time wern't they. Again, thanks to both of you for commenting.

perhaps this photograph has received the deserving accolades because of its composition - the balance of white-gray-black, the diagonals of the kerblines, and the obvious humor of the scene before us -- i too echo their reaction
