the tormented sands of Sardinia... the first thought that entered my mind seeing this sandscape... i quite like it though i'm not sure of the pov/composition

Hi Rajat, well, not so tormented...

Actually I'm very doubtful too about this pic and this is the reason why I posted it: to know if it's either a good photo or a bad one. The ratings seem to confirm the second hypothesis. Thank-you for your thoughts!  :-)

Gorgeous photo! Smart point of view underlining sand with all details. Nice mood thanks to the pastel sunset colours. I like this work a lot. Cheers, Grazyna.

Hi Grazyna,

and welcome back. So you're helping me to cancel any doubts. Let me ask a small question: isn't the sand too contrasted? Aren't the blacks in foreground excessive?

Thank-you for your appreciation and support

when i say the 'tormented sands of Sardinia' i guess i'm too mis-influenced by the novels of the Godfather ilk which depict Sardinia as the 'home' of vendettas and of the mafia...  this is as image of contrasts... the heavily textured 'charactered' sand and the simply blissful sunrise... such, i guess, is the nature of the landscape, particularly at this hour... so i would not say that the sand is 'too contrasted'... if you want some kind of idyllic image which pleases you or your viewers you could easily lighten the sands and minimize the blackness but i don't think it would be 'real'...

Dear Rajat,

the photographic thoughts you develop are very clear and interesting and help me to understand the picute better than I did alone. Thank-you for real for you contribution.

On the other hand the island you refer to when you talk of the Godfather is Sicily and not Sardinia. Seen from the distance of thousands of kilometers the two islands are very closed, but in a country with hundreds of micro-cultures the two islands are very far one from another and neither Sicilians nor Sardinians will be happy to be for the misplacement.

Mauro

PS: yes, it's a crazy country and not just for this reason
