Diane,

This is a wonderful job of capturing the image of that bee.  Of course, it is always possible to make things better so I wanted to make a couple of suggestions.  I upload a closeup of the bee to show you what I mean (this was done rapidly and not thoughtfully so may not be the best that can be done).  The bee is so dark that her interesting body parts are lost in the dark pigmentation.  Using modern software, such as Photoshop one can manipulate the contrast only of the dark parts and then use sharpening techniques to improve one's ability to see a tiny creature like an insect.  If you love closeup photography of small things it is a worthwhile skill to seek.

Jerry,

Thanks so much for your comments AND the visual.  I'm just beginning to explore the world of PS - there is so much to learn!

Bill,

Many thanks for your kind words.  I, too, was pretty satisfied with the DOF (something I have been working on!).    Take care.

A very good shot Diane, I agree with Jerry about post processing - the secret is not to make the overall effect look as though the shot has been over-processed, which is easy to do. I do very little macro work as I have trouble kneeling or bending and a studio approach does not appeal. Keep up the good work.

Andrew,

Thanks for checking out the shot and for your comments....guess I'm just going to have to take a weekend and get into post processing!
