samrat 1 Posted September 12, 2010 This is one of those photos which makes me wonder about all that is going on there. What is being said? And perhaps more importantly, is there something to see that is hidden? The expressions, lines of gaze, all point towards the center of the action. This ability of the photo to raise questions and arouse curiosity makes the shot successful. The colours add to the photo; as you know I prefer b/w but I think this would not have been so enjoyable without the colours.A minor comment would go towards the slight slant to the right; this is something I have been guilty of very often. I often do it because I do not think about it at that time. But whenever I do, I find that keeping a level head (pun unintended) helps a lot. Link to comment

amalsircar 2 Posted September 12, 2010 Ruud, thank you very much for your feedback. I am learning from your street-photography images.Samrat, You are right. I took this shot from a moving cycle rickshaw, precisely for the reasons you have observed. Many thanks for the suggestion.Gallego, Muchas Gracias. Un cordial saludo,A.K.Rashed, thank you very much for your appreciation. Best wishes.Bobby, many thanks for your feedback and querries. They were a group of pilgrims, gathered in front of the famous Jagannath Temple at Puri. I am not sure, what they were going.Since they were huddled together, I presumed that they were searching for something or might be performing religious rites.Aviar, thank you very much for your feedback.Andrea, I appreciate your comment very much. Thank you very much, indeed.Mehmet, thank you very much for your appreciation. Link to comment
jeffl7 0 Posted September 12, 2010 The colors of the saris are stunning, like a tray of jewels. There's a wonderful sense of community depicted, which is rarely seen here (in the US). Link to comment

spectacle 0 Posted September 13, 2010 AS,needs a bit drama,USP is 'local' flavour ,still not upto your mark.distracting white umbrellas,5/5...regards,asg Link to comment
amrit_chatterjee 0 Posted September 13, 2010 The documentary approach suits the caption. It has elicited a lot of enquires in the minds of the viewers. The street side ambience has been very well captured and presented.Since the locale is 'Puri' one of the holiest of Hindu pilgrimages I wonder if the search is of material or spritual nature. pnital 36 Posted September 13, 2010 I don't know what they are looking at, but it is a very nice human circle. Even though the women are seen from the back ,their saris are animating the whole. Very nice presentation of a local community in mundane life, with some sort of a special interest...;-)) Well observed , I like as well the BG but especially human circle. Link to comment

Jack McRitchie 150 Posted September 14, 2010 What a dazzling assortment of colors in the clothes of the ladies gathered round. Red, saffron, lime green and the star of the show, the cobalt blue sari which cuts through the composition like a knife. The black and white version is good but the story here is color!
