Christal... Ahhh, the long awaited posting :-).

A very well done macro and I like the composition, the lighting and the DOF.  The droplets of water are dessert... Mike

It's a good thing this guy was beautiful because I was NOT happy with him.  I went out to get some parsley from my garden, and there was NO parsley left.  These 2 caterpillars had stripped it clean.....and we're talking about in a very short period of time.....perhaps 2 days.  I don't know how they could have eaten it that quickly.  Anyway, I haven't done much macro work because I get frustrated that I go to all the trouble to set up, and then the thing moves (like butterflies).....but these guys were slow enough that it allowed me time to plan the shot and set up the tripod.  Thanks for your visits and kind words!

I thought I submitted this for critique, but I could never find it,

and I don't see it on my list of posts on my member page. So I'm

re-submitting this for critique in the Macro category. Thanks for

viewing.

Christal,  good composition, very nice colors, and reasonably sharp.  And the water droplets are the icing on the cake for me.

Thanks for taking a look at my butterfly's.  The monarchs start migrating south to Mexico in October and I have a spot picked out at the Dallas Arboretum to try to capture some decent shots.  There were several hundred monarchs there last October, so I am hopeful they return again this year.

Very nice macro. Sharp with details of its pattern and texture. Very good color. You had the right tools, 60mm, F14 and a tripod. Very good results. Colors are excellent. Regards, ifti.

Christal - I love the colors  - especially the green on the "eaten" and the "Eator".

Somewhere in my readings, someone suggested try to photograph these critters (and butterflies, etc) early in the morning when it is cool and they are more sluggish.

I agree with all of the comments but i will specify one tiny artistic 'nit'  and it is the blue colored object in the background. Remember it is an ARTISTIC  nit and i still enjoy the image very much.

Again, just trying to be constructive and sometimes it backfires.

All the best,

I appreciate all of your comments on this.  :-)  I was pretty proud of it....only because it's the first time I've ever succeeded at a real macro shot.  Tony, the blue doesn't bother me......but I'm glad you mentioned it because it made me realize that I really don't like that white patch in the upper right.  So thanks for leading me to that conclusion.  :-)
