Thank you for your comment, Linda.  Yes, Basil is a gentleman and you see here a little bit of his personality too: he is a "jokester" in that he has a good sense of humor and has a sharp wit.

Very original and so well lit portrait of this wonderful looking gentleman, remarkable details and skin tone, his eye for sure making the proper contact with the viewers.

It looks like he trusts you. Very valuable in a portrait. The softness of his face is relaxing. It puts ease into the photo and it seems to come from him as well as from you. Nice work with the exposure of his white hair, which is refined and textured. The yellow light from the background is casting its yellowish glow onto his face. Yellow can be trouble and look sickly. But here, he looks bathed in warmth and it gives the photo a unity that works.
