I like the shallow DOF makes the eyes the focal point. I think the photo would be better if the ear and the tongue wasn’t cut maybe more tilt in framing were the tongue would be in the bottom left and ears in the top right, or a straight portrait framing. A beautiful dog, best regards.

David--thanks so much for the suggestions!  I was a bit bummed that I ended up cutting off her ear and tongue in the photo.  It was a bit impromptu. I was doing some photos mixed in with an obedience session and this picture was at the end of her "dodi" command (release from a down-stay with a "front" finish...my husband is Bosnian so all her "working" commands are in Serbo-Croatian).  As she was doing her sliding sit-stop I decided to snap a picture but also realized at the last second I was going to be too close with the 50mm lens on, so I lifted up and back as much as possible.  Alas, she still got some parts chopped off!  I'm going to play with the cropping ideas to see how those look.
