she has, and great equanimity - a marvelous monochrome portrait

Anna is my wife's aunt. She used to be a biologist and a college teacher (biology, of course). Her greatest interests during her retirement are sciences and politics. Despite her age (84) she is very very open minded, quite an extremist, indeed. I have great esteem for Anna and I love to spend time discussing politics and scientific themes with her.

I agree with Vincenzo, try again but with more focus. The expression is full of intensity, she is a strong woman, i see.

I love old people's portraits, but here I agree with Vincenzo and Elena: the focus is a bit too soft. This is not a defect in general, you can shoot with a very narrow depth of field, but you need to have a little area (the subject's eyes works best) in perfect focus.

Light and composition are very good and the B&W choiche as well.

Hi friends! Tnx for your suggestion. Of course the picture is what it is and I can not reshoot it. On the other hand I can try some manipulation to improve the sharpness and here you find the result. I substituted the original picture with the correct one. Please, view it larger.

Without the color original, it's difficult to sharpen this, but I had a shot at it. If I had more time, I would take away the sharpening in some areas.

This a wonderful portrait of this so looked pleasant lady.

The light here and the expression atmosphere are so great, as well as the contrast and tone.

I would also like to see this work sharper, it is very important for a lady at this age to bring out all of the texture details out of her face, other wise again the image is great.

As far as your comments go on I understand and learn how stupid is to take shots like this without paying attention to every detail and, mostly to an important one like sharpness. On one hand I regret to have posted a picture with a non-correctable defect; on the other hand I'm appreciating the great lesson coming from your comments and from those of the other friends here.
