This seems to me to be one of those photos where the main subject should be centered. I would crop off some of the right side of the photo to do so.

Hi James.  ere is the crop you suggested.  What do you think of this one?  Better?  I thought the direction the seagull was looked needed more negative space, but then again he is pretty small in the frame.  Let me know what you think.

I think the photo does indeed look much better now. Previously it wasn't even on the thirds but just a bit off from center.
