There's something quite pleasant and in-the-moment about this scene. His hand on the car door is nice. I love the light along his arm. Along the rim of his face, it feels more like an outline than light. The detail of the book is well handled, the white of the pages distinct from the light background. I'm curious about your settings here. It's at a high ISO and fast shutter speed. What were your thoughts on that?

Fred, this and the other shot of Noah were shot after I had just come out of my mother's house, from where I had been shooting hummingbirds through a sliding door onto the patio in the back.  The results were fortuitous, in that the settings, though still set for hummingbird shooting, worked alright; high ISO, moderately wide aperture to get all of the hummingbird in focus while still blurring out the background, etc., worked well enough here, but with more noise than was necessary.

In other words, both shots fell together pretty well (the best way I know how to describe it), given my failure to reset the ISO to normal settings.

Thanks for stopping by.
