Another sight of a new start for many refugees and work seekers  children that live and many were born in Israel. Mesila Org. arranged a happening  for the children that are starting the first grade  at school. They were getting new bags and accessories needed to start school education. It was a gay event (for older ones as well)  with sweets and clowns. A happy afternoon   for children and parents.

Thanks for viewing

This gives me a great light hearted feeling, something a lot of us can relate to... Here we have a huge Fair "Pacific Exhibition" at the end of our summer before the children go back to school.  It is indeed a sweet start...

I still don't understand the attraction that most children have for cotton-candy. I always hated it after the first try of eating it. And now when I see the cost of carnival snacks, I am amazed that parents purchase the stuff.

That being said.... Pnina, you have captured the thrill of the youngster enjoying the 'tasty treat' and I can see he is enjoying it much more that I would. Nice shot.

He's trying to open his mouth to eat something as big as his head!  I like this because he's having a great time, and you convey this and with your work bring him and others joy.  Meaningful

The boy and the cotton candy seem to be mirror images of each other. Cotton candy can be like a cloud, forming imaginary images of things. I see him eating a face! There's an engaging contrast between the balck of his face, softly highlighted, and the white of the cotton candy, white whose details you've held. The background is alive and busy. His hand is really grasping the stick, holding on for dear life. Your perspective, shooting from below, seems to add a monumental sense to this innocent motion.

This photograph perfectly captures the sheer rapture of a child's eating cotton candy, as evidenced by his eyes being closed.  His fingers are tighly clenched around the stick, and he looks like he is trying to consume the entire piece of candy in one bite.  The details in this photograph are right on the money, and the colors are vivid without being overblown.

My sincere wishes for a sweet, happy, healthy, joyous, safe, and productive year,

L'Shana Tova Umetuka,

michael

I love this hopeful and warm capture.  I personally like cotton candy and enjoy it during the very rare times that I go to a fair.  The association of the candy resembling a cloud is a clever one.  As a kid I used to be fascinated by clouds and wanted to catch them, but that was impossible.  In a way I am happy to see this kid enjoying his treat because he has attained some of the elusive dreams that the cloud represents - a new start and the chance to live in a better society.

Mehmet, Jeff, Andrea , Patsy, Shawn, Bob and  El , thanks all of you for your feedback and time for   writing. For those children it was a great joy and sweet time( double sweet....) Parents? Later on ...;-))

Donna, Alberto, Amal and Valentyn, thanks  as well . It was a meaningful day for many of them.

Fred, yes I saw the face( looked a "dog cloud " face to me....)) in the cotton candy.  It is a nice association (word ) for cloud, as it was I think a "cloud of dreams" for this little child, that probably don't have cotton candy as an every day treat...For me it was not only a child leaking a sweet, but much more than that , a need. Thanks for the word monumental, and your commentary.

Michael, interesting that you observed  as well as Fred his fingers that are tightly clenched around the stick, it  was a strong point for me not less than his face connected so strongly to the sweet.
Thanks for your nice feedback, and good wishes for the holidays, which I'm sending back to you and your family.

Adan,  I'm glad to read you here, and know what are the memories of your childhood that this photo evoked. It shows me that there is a communication achieved  between photo(....grapher)  and viewer.
Adan, I think that many of those children need that sweet taste. Thanks .
