Edinburgh is Scotland's capital city and every year in the month of August transforms itself into the cultural capital of the world. In addition to the official Edinburgh International Festival comprising musical, ballet and theatre performances by leading companies from around the world, there are several other arts and cultural festivals, of which the Fringe is by far the largest. Countless Fringe venues, large, small and tiny open their doors to groups, large and small, local and foreign, who decide to make their way to Edinburgh, camp on friends' floors and perform their piece to visitors from all over the world. Many are completely unknown and in order to stand out from the crowd and entice an audience they first appear on the Royal Mile, the ancient street linking Edinburgh Castle on its volcanic peak to the Palace of Holyrood House. A short strip of this street is thronged with weird and wonderful figures, singers, acrobats, jugglers, actors, all watched by curious tourists, whose hands are filled with flyer after flyer advertising comedy, dance, music, classical theatre and experimental works. Last year there were 1,300 performances per day, by an estimated 18,901 performers from 60 countries. It's a truly exhiliarating atmosphere. At night the castle plays host to the Tattoo, a performance of military skills and music performed by Scottish regiments and at its close, fireworks are released from the Castle.

As said above - not easy at all but very impressive final result. The ' photogenic' illumination of the castle adds definitely value to the composition. Compliments Dimitri.

The precise exposure and light treatment reveals all the details of these impressive fireworks......

... also the castle is well written under the low light.

Very successful indeed..... (top score an.)

Great moment! The firework is fantastic and this is amazing presentation, Dimitris. I also like the beautiful light reflection on the castle. This is a nice addition to the firework and all these lights work together very well. Beautiful picture! Best regards.
