michael_ward1 0 Posted December 4, 2002 Regina, Congratulations, you have been awarded a 3/3 from one of the too-dumb-to-use-a-camera club. I'm thinking of starting a list. This picture is well composed, and the colors are lovely. You managed to catch the ripple just right. Very nice shot. Link to comment
arnabdas 0 Posted December 4, 2002 This is one of the nicest nature abstracts I've seen in recent times. Well done Link to comment
peterneibert 0 Posted December 4, 2002 What contrast: a 3/3 from "too dumb to use a camera club" and a serious appraisal of this "nature abstract" by a talented nature photographer. I must parrot Michael's praise. Also, what I see on my monitor is indeed a serious nature abstract -- have you tried printing this one? Link to comment
yakim_peled1 0 Posted December 4, 2002 Reminds me of a renaissance painting. Very nice. Link to comment
1000wordsphotography 0 Posted December 4, 2002 It prints out beautifully. So much nicer than can be seen here. Thanks for the comments and as for the 3/3... I can only assume he/she is color blind. ;^) All opinons and ratings welcome though...it is an open forum so you take the good with the bad. Link to comment
fred_j._lord 0 Posted December 4, 2002 Regina: The sense of light is lovely. The hues and values are superb. Another image that begs for a large print on the wall! Take the drive-by ratings for what they're worth, nothing. Random droppings from the pigeons of the world. Link to comment
1000wordsphotography 0 Posted December 5, 2002 It reminds me a lot of a fall shot that Stephen took, his included a duck. Stephen:Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. :^) Link to comment
eleanor_draper 0 Posted December 5, 2002 Great color, very nice. Nice that it shows only the reflection. Link to comment
kkwan 0 Posted December 5, 2002 A good abstract with wonderful textures and great colours. The composition works well with the darker band placed at a third. I think an isolated element on the bottom right, like a rock, would give the composition better balance. Link to comment
stephen_lau1 0 Posted December 5, 2002 I like the reflecton and I am always facinated about water. The color is very nice and rich, and using the square format works good here. I do have some reservation about the dark object (tree truck?) reflection, which I think this may be a better image without it. I have removed the dark object and present it here for comparison. waynemorgan 0 Posted December 5, 2002 I might like it with the trunk in also. It is following a rule of composition and I don't feel that it distacts from the rest of the image. Colors are fantastic and I like the ripples also. Great shot! Link to comment
lisa_m._holley 0 Posted December 5, 2002 Impressive shot, Regina. You definitely have the eye for such pictures. The ripples in the water are incredible, and the colors are wonderful. I really like the reflection in the shot, as well. Wish I could get some shots like this. Again, very impressive shot. Link to comment
peterneibert 0 Posted December 7, 2002 The frame needs work: The black is a bit too heavy, darkening the lower left overmuch. Inserting the blue "matting" alleviates the problem, but doesn't fully resolve it. A thinner black frame is probably required. The Blue matting seems about right on the top and bottom but on the right side it is rather over-bearing. Even though it is close to the hue of the water,it produces a nearly neon lighting effect, inappropriate to this excellent, natural abstract. Link to comment
marshall 0 Posted January 19, 2003 I think this is a very good nature abstrat as well. recognizable enough, but still really a study of reflected color than anything else. I think The lighter blue areas draw my eye more than I'd like, since I feel that the richer colors offer more visual satisfaction. However, that impression could be partly a result of the framing; I agree that the black frame darkens it a lot, but the blue accent seems to pull out the blue areas in the image itself strongly. Perhaps an accent color on the warmer side of this image. Ok, it sounds like I'm nitpicking, but this is an eye-catching image regardless. Enjoy. Link to comment
jeff d 1 Posted August 9, 2003 this is a wonderful creation, and reminds me of a monet. This one is a real keeper. All of your work is quite impressive, and varied as well. I am glad I touched upon your folders. My opinion of frames: they neither add nor detract. I look only at the subject matter. I am tempted to use frames myself, but so far I have not. I would rather review the naked image, rather than review how it looks inside of an object created to enhance it. Silly for me to be this way, I suppose. Link to comment
