A bit of 'Quantum Reality' for you to ponder...

I love it a lot, but I have one question: Apophysis is a fractal lame editor, so I assume this image is more than just the output from the application framed and signed? If so, what did you do?

The version of Apophysis I use has a pseudo-3D capability.

I did considerable editing in Apophysis, about an hour, and then further enhanced the rendering in PSPP X3, added a background layer and combined the layers with a bit of tinkering along the way. The border and frame were created and the signature added.

The bulk of the time was spent with the color pallet trying to get the colors right as well as the texture and depth.  This involves adjusting the colors, and their size and spacing, within the pallet.  There were quite a few transforms used as well, which involved some tweaking.

Some of these images, not this one, are a combination of two or more flame images.

Once-in-a-while you will find a great image with little effort, but it is more likely, that to get something 'really good', you will spend from one to five hours on an image.

I should also add that a fast, multi-core computer is almost a requirement.  I run a 2.6 Ghz quad-core, using all four cores for rendering.

If you like a challenge, with a rewarding conclusion, give it a try.
