I viewed this large, I think you need more dof, (f/8 or f/11).

Unfortunately you are very right!

My only excuse is that I was trekking on a mountain path and the picture "of the fly" has been caught "on the fly" :-)

coming back to this image, for an 'on the run' photograph it is quite good... the background is nicely blurred, the petals have texture and depth, the wings of the fly have a pleasing translucency... the exposure seems spot on... i'm guessing this was in the shade and you did not have the benefit of any direct ambient light...three of the petals have a nice whiteness but the two between the 9'o'clock and 12'o'clock positions have some blue-gray hues... your f no is 9 so i don't think dof is an issue... of course i have done very little flower photography to comment knowledgeably on this... is this a crop of a larger image?
