The objective in printing was to darken the sky and the house details, while the image

capture concentrated on the form of the dune fence.

Arthur:  I like the composition.  The exposure seems under.  I would have preferred a little brighter sand.  Nice shot.  Alan.

Hi Alan,

Thank you for your comments.  Yes, the sand can be brighter, without loosing visible detail in the light wood of the fence.  I have done that in some other prints of this negative by selectively increasing the time of print exposure in the foreground and mid area of the fence so it doesn't print too lightly when reducing the time and thus lightening the sand exposure. The print exposure already is quite "burned" (overexposure and hence darkening) in the upper 1/5th of the image, to enable the trees, sky and house to register much darker then normal, thereby reducing otherwise visible detail in the house and increasing I think the feeling of a certain mystery in the final image. It is also probable that when I copied the 20 x 16 inch print using a small digital camera the print reproduced a bit darker than the original.

I regret I haven't provided a larger image of this one, and may do so in future.
