I'm a beginner ... this is my first roll of film on an SLR. I'd

appreciate any comments or ideas that you might give me. Thanks!

I'll try to be helpful: I think you have to decide what's the most important : the bridge, the path strewn with leaves or the foreground tree. Then work the composition from there. To get the bridge maybe move into the trees on the right and have the path swinging round towards the bridge. To emphasise the path include more of it in the shot (sweeping infrom left to right perhaps). As for the tree it needs something special to form the main subject of the shot. Alternatively if you're after a general view then include less bridge, less path more forest !

Try taking 10 shots of the scene and make each one as different from the others as possible. Then take your pick! Hope this helps.

Hi LouAnn, are you using a tripod? That would allow you to use a small aperture and get depth and detail. I think for this shot I might have stood further to the right, to get that tree out of center position and focus more on the path leading to the bridge. And shoot, shoot, shoot. If practice doesn't make perfect, it's the best way to improve and learn.
