Anytime I see a scene like this, the old Otis Redding tune plays in my head. One whole week in this area and this was one of the rare moments when the blue sky peeked through the clouds. Middle of August and the temp only once climbed above 60 degrees. My kind of summer weather!

"Sittin' in the mornin' sun

I'll be sittin' when the evenin' come

Watching the ships roll in

And then I watch 'em roll away again, yeah"

Thanks for your thoughts. The Larger version is preferred!

Mark, it's funny the things that we think of. My first thought was Cannery Row, knowing where you would be more or less. What also strikes me here is that the seashore echoes the buildings. They have both been prettier at another time. Black and White is an excellent choice for this as colour would have been a distraction,

Mark... Stepping out of your norm with both your song selection and scene; but both are dead on.  Very well done in b/w and I agree, the b/w tones just set the mood... Love it... Mike

Thanks Jeff and Mike! I wish I had more time while the sun was out, but I was with my daughter and we had to be back before lunch. This was a basic comp, but many more were possible of course. Yes, Jeff, the scene probably falls short for many on the aesthetic side. The shore here has been worked over and the building is on the verge of being reclaimed by the sea. Just the reasons for me wanting this shot from day one. I was never so challenged with photography as I was this week. Most days were gray with a fog ceiling, so the light was flaaaaat. I would love to come back when the weather offers a mix of conditions. Thx again!
