Well done indeed. My family and I went out and saw many meteors that night, alas my camera caught not a one. This is a nice presentation of a simple line of light that is very meaningful to anyone who has tried to capture a similar image. Regards.

Thanks Craig,

I have tried capturing the Perseid Meteor Shower for years and only ever came away with faint streaks that were not worthy of posting.  This is straight from the camera with only a raw conversion.  Shot with the 5DMkII, 17-40mm @ ISO1600 and 15 second shutter speed.  Got a few more that evening, but none as nice as this.

Well done Stephen!  I've lost some sleep trying to capture this the last few nights.  While I got some keepers, nothing like this.

Great image Stephen.  The dark sky and lack of star trailing make this a good one.

I was chasing meteors last week myself.  I caught one good one, between clouds.  My meteor photo is posted here on photo.net also.

I'm curious if your photo is cropped.

Jim,

Thanks for your comment.  My picture is full-frame from my 5D Mark II, no cropping.  It was the best of the three nights I ventured forth to capture these elusive streaks of light.  I looked at your meteor and it is nice.  Fortunate to get it between the clouds.  I was fortunate to have a cloudless sky and was 4100 ft above sea level with no light pollution (high desert in Oregon).
