"Stoney Broke" refers to the name of the middle boat of the three in the

foreground of the image. There were some other amusing names on the

boats I passed too ( "Shy talk" and "Hoof Hearted") being amonst

them.as I strolled along the quay side at 6.30am taking a few shots

while I waited for my fishing buddies to arrive.

Cheerful painted boats fight the gloom of heavy clouds. Demure reflections of the buildings.  Very inviting scene.  Funny name for a boat.  I guess there's a story there.  I wonder if you caught anything that day.

Hi Alf,

This has a very nice story-book feeling to it. I like it very much. Is this HDR? Thanks for sharing a good one. Truley excellent composition.

Best Regards,

Holger

Colorful boats in fairytale town. The exagerated hdr look works really well for this image Alf! Excellent!

All the best,

Me gusta mucho esta imagen. Los colores no parecen muy reales (tal vez sea un HDR), pero me parece muy atractivo el resultado obtenido. Felicitaciones.

Well, you've done it to me again, Alf.  This is very inspriational to me.  Not only will I now be shooting in RAW, I'll also have to learn HDR.  As if I'm not already too busy.  Seriously, this is a really great image.  You could make prints of this and your other images and retire early.  That would give you alot more time for photography.

Great work...

It's what I would call a lovely laid back image, great scene and detail and not over saturated. Excellent shot.

Many thanks for your thoughts and comments, I always enjoy reading your comments, you have a very elequent way of putting things. Yes I caught loadssss of fish, Mackeral, Cod, Pollack, Whiting, Ling and some other things I didn't recognise, it was a good day, ....and then of course a few well earned beers : - )

Many thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts, much appreciated! Yes this is a HDR and I agree with the story book anaolgy, it looks like "Jolly Jack Tar" the sailor is about to appear on the scene at any moment.

NEIL

Sincere thanks for your visit and kind words, this one does suit the heavier HDR look, not everything does, it's just a matter of sorting the ones that do and don't.

Cheers Neil!

FALAK

Sincere thanks for your thoughts and kind comments, the light on this particular morning was very flat, probably due to the fact that it was very early and quite cloudy, but I think that HDR works better in these conditions.

Many thanks for your visit and comments. Whitby is a fishing town of great charm and character and if I have captured it's essence in a small way, then I am very pleased!

Hola José », muchas gracias por su visita y amables palabras, tienes razón esta es una imagen HDR, surrealista en apariencia, pero agradable a la vista.

BOB

Sincere thanks for your visit and kind words, I am truly flattered that my image could inspire you. Landscapes is where my heart lies, I'd love to experiment with other types of photography, but such is work commitments I just don't get time. Good luck with the 12 - 24mm  Bob

HEY JERRY

I don't see why you should get any rest, while I still have to work  : - )

But yeah seriously, I know I've given you a whole lot of new things to try recently, and it takes a while to get used to the different shooting formats and software, but it will all be worth it in the end! And when your ready to try HDR I've got a few tips than can speed up the process too.

Sincere thanks for your thoughts and comments Jerry, much appreciated!

I can sense the passion you have for photography...  Beautifully composed... Nice color and the cloud contrast is great..

Alf - Congratulations  - I concur with all of the positive comments. Immediately I know it is HDR but it is so close to what I think the actual scene was, that it makes it very appealing - almost like a watercolor. You mentioned that you do 5 images for HDR and that can be a challenge with cloud, water and other movement. With your work process, there is no evidence of any anomalies in that area.
