I decided to post this as someone recently requested information

regarding using "fast lenses" for candids at weddings...

I use on camera strobes.... off camera lighting and when I want to

establish a "certain mood" often use available light. You could

barely see this father and daughter on the dance floor as they dimmed

the lights. f2.8 is more than enough in IMO even for candle light...

I'm the one who asked that question in the other thread, and this is exactly the sort of example I was looking for. It's an amazing shot. I'm blown away that with today's cameras you can push the ISO to 10000 and get something like this. Thanks for posting this.

For the record, this is not altered and no noise reduction post production... simply removed color and converted to sepia tones...  I'm glad it was the example you were looking for.  I don't like wide angle lenses for this sort of thing, as it would have required me to get very close to my subject and the moment would have then been "disturbed" by an intrusive photographer... best of luck with your work!

If you click on the "details" tab above, all exposure data is there for you to review.  I realize that many dslr cameras don't have ISO's this high...
