Dear all, thanks a lot for your comments - I used a (weak) flashlight during the long exposure time. Usually, you're gonna find images of Arch Rock taken a few meters ahead from this point (for capturing the full arch which can be seen here in a small part only). I was attracted by this special view / perspective here, because the rock seems to resemble a (petrified) skull from behind (of an alien may be... ;-)). From this (unsual) position, one can get nice images as well IMO (especially during the first hour after sunset). Anyway, it is a long trip to Joshua Tree NP (either from LA or San Diego), but it is absolutely worth it. Highly recommended.

Great, Volker, and indeed: Much better in big. It almost looks like a human skull, almost a bit scary... :-)

Cheers - Lutz
